This week we honor law enforcement by recognizing National Police Week. Thank you to all law enforcement officers who serve, protect, and sacrifice for us.
Men and women in uniform are willing to do things most of us are not willing to do; to interact with people most of us are not willing to interact with; and are willing to miss the things in life most of us are not willing to miss. Crime never sleeps and never takes a day off, so law enforcement cannot either.
Being in law enforcement is difficult every day. And every day can and should provide us an opportunity to let them know how grateful we are. Some times it takes the loss of an officer in the line of duty to remind us how dangerous this job really is.
If you see a police officer this week, or the next, or the next, offer a word of thanks and appreciation. Having worked with law enforcement daily for 16 years, I can predict their response: they will tell you it is an honor to serve. The real honor is living in a country where men and women are willing to stand on that thin blue line and protect us. Join me in saying thank you to all of the men and women of law enforcement.
